Plot:

On December 26, 2004, the rupture of a fault in the Indian Ocean caused an earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1 on the Richter scale. The ensuing giant wave will kill more than 230,000 people. On March 11, 2011, another giant wave hit the island of Honshu and submerged the Fukushima plant. The result: 20,000 deaths and a nuclear disaster. Since these two tragedies, researchers around the world are mobilized to study the complex mechanics of tsunamis. One of the results of their work is clear: these devastating masses of water can strike wherever they have done so in the past. Here is the state of play.
